Members
VNPF has more than 80,000 active members nationwide. It is compulsory under Vanuatu law for all employees aged 14 and 55 earning VT 3,000 per month or more to be a member. Self-employed workers are not obliged to join, however they can join and contribute as a Voluntary Member.
Expatriate employees are also subject to Vanuatu law and must become members, unless they have been approved by VNPF to have their contributions directed to an alternative overseas superannuation fund.
The amount of contributions is calculated based on the monthly remuneration of an employee. Currently, the rate of contribution is 8% of the employee's remuneration, of which 4% is from the employee's monthly remuneration while 4% is contributed by the employer.
Severance pay, gratuity payments (due under terms of employment), and any allowances or reimbursements do not form part of the gross remuneration.
If you believe your employer is not paying the correct amount of contributions into your VNPF account, please contact us to lodge a complaint.
